The PhD projects may address research themes within the research areas at the Physics and Astronomy Department, at INFN, at INAF and at the other research institutions of the Florence area. The research areas include: astrophysics on both observative and theoretical sides; nuclear and subnuclear physics, both at accelerators and with cosmic rays; theory of fundamental interactions; physics of matter on all experimental and theoretical aspects; applied physics in the areas of biomedicine, environmental analysis, and instrumental analysis; transversal themes such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum technology. Specific themes in the latter area regard: the development of algorithms for digital quantum computing; new techniques for single-atom manipulation for quantum simulation and computing.
