• at the end of the first and second years of the program, they evaluate the student's activities in the first or first two years of the program and express their opinion regarding the student's advancement to the next year,
• by the end of the program, they submit a joint assessment with the co-supervisors on the student's activities over the three years of the program and propose the thesis referees to the Academic Board,
• following the referees' favourable assessments, they propose the members of the final examination committees to the Academic Board.

Deadlines

1^st year PhD students (cycle 41)

by October 9^th, 2026:

• evaluate the activities carried out by the PhD students in the first year of the course and send the favourable opinion for the PhD student's advancement to the second year of the course to dottorato@fisica.unifi.it

2^nd year PhD students (cycle 40)

by September 30^th, 2026:

• evaluate the activities carried out by the PhD students in the first two years of the course and sign the final report of second-year training activities to express the favourable opinion for the PhD student's advancement to the third year of the course

October 6^th-9^th, 2026:

• second-year seminars; the assessment panel for the seminars and presentations will consist of the supervisors of the participating PhD students, as well as one or more members of the Academic Board who are experts in the respective research topics

3^rd year PhD students (cycle 39)

by October 31^st, 2026:

•  submit a joint assessment with the co-supervisors on PhD student's activities over the three years of the program (a single judgment jointly signed) and sign the final report of third-year training activities to express the favourable opinion on the admission to the evaluation of the thesis
• propose the thesis referees to the Academic Board

by December 4^th, 2026:

•  propose the members of the committees for the final exams
