Internationalization Visiting Professors and Foreign Scholars
Visiting Professors and Foreign Scholars
The Department promotes cultural and scientific internationalization by welcoming highly qualified foreign scholars and researchers from foreign universities or research institutions.
The title of Visiting Professor is awarded to scholars who are or have been employed at foreign universities or institutions and who are invited to carry out teaching activities — seminars, teaching modules — and/or research activities at the facilities of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
The selection or identification of the Visiting Professor takes place following the publication of a specific call/public notice or an invitation from a proposing lecturer or from the Department.
Main activities include:
- Carrying out teaching or seminar activities within degree programmes or PhD programmes.
- Collaborating on joint research projects.
- Participating in examination boards and thesis supervision.
The period of stay may range from a minimum of 5 consecutive days to a maximum of one year.

Procedure for requesting the appointment of a Visiting Professor
- The Department lecturer interested in inviting a scholar must send the scholar’s curriculum vitae and a reasoned proposal — using the dedicated form — to the Department Coordinator for Internationalization and to the Department administrative contact.
- The Department Council, by resolution, evaluates and approves the hosting proposal and the possible use of funds for internationalization.
- The lecturer may request, if required for visa purposes or by the home institution, a formal invitation letter signed by the Director.
